Strat pickup configuration?

This is most likely a question that is asked quite a bit around here, but I'm new and couldn't find any useful threads to read, so please put up with my redundancy for the time-being. Anyway, I am a Strat player who is looking for a good configuration of mini-humbuckers in the bridge and neck and a single coil in the middle position. Basically, I am looking for a configuration that can get a good metal sound (i.e. Maiden and Priest, as opposed to, say, Cannibal Corpse), yet not be confined to it at all, as I also play blues, jazz, funk and a ton of other good stuff. The only constant is that I generally prefer a warm, somewhat bassy tone in the neck position for soloing. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey, welcome to the forum. Since you're wanting a heavy tone, and you play metal alot w/ other stuff. And the warm neck position. There's only one setup for this. Coolrails in the neck, Vintagerails in the middle, and a Hotrails in the bridge.

There's certainly more than 'one setup for this.' Why set such limits on tone? Check into the JB Jr for your bridge to start with. Have you gone over to the products page and checked out all the options? I personally would go with what I best thought suited MY sound rather than someone else who happens to prefer certain pups for them.

Welcome to the Forum!

I've had good results with the pickups listed by Beandip in customer's guitars. Another setup I liked was the Lil 59 neck, Duckbucker mid, and JB Jr. bridge. Both setups cover a lot of ground, but I like the JB Jr better than the HR. The JB Jr is a bit more airy than the HR and is better suited for more styles of music.

I would go with the Bill Lawrence L290 bridge and L280 middle and neck. Trust me, you will be pleased.
