Strat pickup recommendations.

I'd like to get some new pickups for my Strat, preferably noiseless.

Not trying to copy anybodys sound, just want some pickups that won't be too thin on the high end or too "ice-pickey" especially in regards to the bridge pickup.

I also plan on wiring it up to a 5-way switch with just one volume and one tone control.

I don't care who makes them, just want to get some feedback from those who've tried various noiseless Strat pickups.

Thanks.

Re: Strat pickup recommendations.

You do need to define a sound you're going for...

Anyway, I like the Hot Rails - split in notch positions and combined with an SSL-1 (not noiseless) in the middle you'll get fat rock tones in the bridge and middle, and nice "acoustic" notch position tone...

Fender's noiseless products are very nice for the money I guess. I like the model that they put in their American Deluxes but I don't think it will make anyone fall of his feet.
You should check Kinman and the Dimarzio "Area" and "Virtual Vintage" line... I have no experience with them but I'm GASing for a set of those Dimarzios.

Re: Strat pickup recommendations.

if you want something noiseless and definitely non-icepick for the bridge, why don't you go for a full sized humbucker? that is, if your body is routed for it? if it is you would only have to get a new pickguard...

Cool Rail bridge, Vintage rail neck and middle

Re: Strat pickup recommendations.

i would go classic stack plus's for neck and middle. i have no personal experience with them (yet) but ALOT of picky ppl rave about how close they are to the real deal. drawing comparison's to the vaunted SSL-1's (which they basically are).

lil 59 bridge - good all around humbucking tone leaning toward vintage
jb jr - more modern, more mids
hot stack bridge - p90/humbucker/hot single coil all together

OR if you can wait there is a wild rumor going around that there will be a newer hotter bridge version of the classic stack plus in 2009.
