Strat project

I'm currently using an American Stand. Strat with Hot Rails in the neck and bridge and an unknown Duncan/Dimarzio in the middle(came from an '88 Hamer Californian). I'm going to change the bridge rail out and put in a JB and in the neck I'm going to run a Sustainiac(just the driver, not the active), next to the Hot Rail. Now, I know the Sustainiac runs off of the bridge pickup, but I was wondering if anyone had ever put a Sustainiac in a Strat. I just want to make sure that the Circuit board is going to fit, I'm going to run the battery to the back of the guitar(that's the plan anyway). Also, I wanted to know if anyone knew where to find a rewiring kit for a Strat, or do I have to buy all the parts separate.

Re: Strat project

there are places on line that sell strat rewiring kits like stewmac.com

ive never looked at the guts of a sustiniac so i cant help ya there
how big is the circut board? when i put the clapton boost in i had to rout a place for it to go.

Re: Strat project

Thanks for the stewmac website Jeremy. The circuit board measurements are 2.75 in. x 1.1 in. That does seem too big, but then again we're talking guitar cavities. I do plan on rewiring the guitar though and clean up a lot of the excess wires, so hopefully that'll free up enough space to install it cleanly. Do you think there will be sufficient space after a wiring clean up or will there be some routing needed?

Re: Strat project

I think it will work...I'll get back to you later when I can check and make sure. I have an LR Baggs piezo pickup system that I'm putting in my Strat project, and it uses a circuit board that is roughly that size. I don't have it with me at the moment to measure, but I'll check on it and let you know.
