For a variety of tone, definitely choose tapped version if you go for hot strat pickups. I have SSL-7T in bridge, with SSL-5 middle. That combo works for anything from P90-like classic rock scream to thick bluesy tone to twangy cleans and tele-type growl.

How about using an upside-down vintage stagger?!?

I've tried and like em all. Flat is even, regular stagger adds to the strattyness, and reverse sounds kind of "solid".

Reverse might make the most sense of the three if you could just nudge the pole under the 2nd string so that it was the same height as the fifth.

At the risk of starting yet another torch and pitchfork inquisition dogpile for going against the grain of the cabal: concerning stagger, DiMarzio got it right.

Oh, you meant the part about reverse with the 2nd string nudged down (literally what I said). Yeah, crazy; stupid crazy! I totally botched that, FFS!! :smack:

Reverse with the pole under the 5th string (wound A) nudged up to match the height of pole under the 2nd string (plain B). Sigh!

Oh no I was referring to the Dimarzio stagger of radiused bass and flat treble. I just got mixed up.
