Strat series wiring

Re: Strat series wiring

All right, folks, I did it!!!
Thank anyone of you for helping me with my questions, and I especially thank hermetico for correcting the wiring instruction. I used A500K pot and it seems to me hard to control. What pot would you recommend me to replace it: A250 or B250?

P.S. I know Barca had won Real Madrid yesterday. We'll see what happens next...

Re: Strat series wiring

I would have gone for a 250K pot with that set-up. I have a series setting on my Tele with a 250K tone pot, and that sounds fab.

Re: Strat series wiring

I don't get you. What do you mean when saying that the A500K is hard to control?. In which way?. Can you be more explicite?

Yes, I can. So if you roll it for about pint 5 or 4, the sound just disappears. It was ok with A250. Now I'm going to try A250 with push-pull

I've put mine fore a volume control (coz my tone is both 250 and I didn't want to have a disproportion). What type of 250 would you recomend me: A or B?

Re: Strat series wiring

Hello guys! I have a question about wiring a strat. Is there any way you can add a 2-way switch to choose series or parallel connection between single coils? If it's not, then maybe it will work another way?

Series of what? Everything? Look up Brian May's schematics.

I just wired up my StraBro Blazer with series and OOP for the bridge pickup (bridge pickup in series with the 5-way) and tapping of course. Nightmare debugging. If I had to charge somebody for doing it I'd have to write a $1500 bill.

It took quite a bit of my (limited) brainpower to get that "put bridge pickup in series with the 5-way" right. I have some drawing at home.

Re: Strat series wiring

I have enough trouble remembering my own name some days, why do things need to change?? :D

Re: Strat series wiring

this is what i want, but i dont know how.

"or (not outlined by now)

1. bridge in series with middle
2. bridge in series with middle
3. no sound or middle (to investigate deeper)
4. middle in series with neck
5. middle in series with neck "

did i miss the drawing for this?? i'm trying to draw it pen to paper, but its giving me a headache.

also what would happen if i had a neck on switch in the above wiring?

Use a little patchbay in the pickguard :)

Seriously, for this you want the Brian May schematics.

Re: Strat series wiring

wow, i looked at the brian may wiring (several of them), and it gave me a bigger headache.

i dont think the brian may will give me neck mid series. i want a standard strat 5 way, not 3 mini's, and then the "series" switch to give me

1. bridge in series with middle
2. bridge in series with middle
3. no sound or middle (to investigate deeper)
4. middle in series with neck
5. middle in series with neck

i dont know if that is possible. if i could see a drawing of it, i could wrap my head around it, or if someone explained it using very, very small words with some "text graphics".

We didn't find the solution so we stopped to.

Just do the way I did. Read the first page

That's the natural way as logarithmic pots work. They are following the ears' behaviour. We hear in a logarithmic way.
Usually, you only need to roll off a couple of marks in the button to clean the sound, don't need to go to number 5, with a log one.

I had A250 before but it was good. I think I'll try buying A250 push-pull
