Strat style neck question.

I have bought a fender strat style neck that has a heel width
of 2.16'' / 55mm.

I need to buy a body and i have found one online with a neck pocket width
of 57mm.

Will they fit together fine ?
or some small work has to be done ?

Re: Strat style neck question.

well they will fit but youll have a gap.

making the neck wider or the pocket smaller isnt all that easy

Re: Strat style neck question.

Greetings from the other side of the UK.

Is the body with the 57mm pocket finished or unfinished? It is possible that somebody has allowed you 1.5 to 2mm for the thickness of paint and/or varnish that is yet to be applied to the guitar body.

If the body already is finished, the pocket might benefit from minor shimming to keep the neck fit tight and straight.

Re: Strat style neck question.

The guitar has a finish on already so im guessing some work needs to be done.
What would be best for this kind of thing ?

i have this industrial wood filler that will dry as hard as a rock.
If i apply a tiny amount either side of the pocket (making sure its flat + correct) , would this work ?

I would stay away from wood filler. You're better off with a tight fitting shim.

I did this with a Tele build recently. The pocket was too big and the neck was being pulled out of alignment. Cut a shim slightly too big, test fit, sand the shim down, test fit, sand the shim down...repeat until the fit is correct.
