:yell:Stop turning the :cussing: f#$king tone controls almost all the way down to 2 when trying out strats in a music store.:banghead: My goodness I picked up three strats and they all had the tone rolled down to damn near 0. At least roll it back up when you're done with em. Ok rant over

Re: Strat users when trying out guitars please.....

Calm down. You'll never make 40 at this rate.

Re: Strat users when trying out guitars please.....

Why didn't you check all of the controls before you began testing those guitars? CYT. Rage turned inward is bad for you.

I was really checking between the weight of the three I hadn't plan to plug em in. One was Ash one was Alder and the other Maple.

I dunno man! I think I'll worry about the easier things in life, like getting rid of pollution or establishing world peace.

Maybe you wouldn't get so upset if you still had your "addiction".

Actually I playing with my wood now more than ever (my guitar that is). I wasn't really upset it was more of just something to rant about.

I'm going to make it a point to roll every tone knob I can reach in GC to 1 next time I'm there, then I'll report back with my hilarious antics.

You found a maple bodied Strat? What brand was that?

P.S. Rant away. I get why it's annoying to you.

Re: Strat users when trying out guitars please.....

I'd be more inclined to say, Strat users, when trying out guitars, please check where the knobs are set before you start playing. Who ****ing cares if the knobs are at 2? 2 is there for a reason. If it was never gonna possibly be set there sometimes, it probably wouldn't be on the guitar in the first place.

Re: Strat users when trying out guitars please.....

How long does it take to turn two tone knobs? One second at most?

I also, when possible, tune any guitar I'm trying out to Eb standard. It is the tuning I use on every guitar - so I will try out guitars in that tuning; it isn't like I'm tuning to some obscure open tuning. Even if it is in standard tuning, you should still check to make sure it is in tune before playing, so it takes about 30 extra seconds than normal to tune back to standard. Problem? (I don't do this on floating bridges)

Or if your like me, just get them into a relative standard pitch, then rock away.

+1. I do that with my own guiatrs, as I wipe them down after playing, and the knobs get bumped. First thing I do when I strap on a guitar of mine is check the volume/tone knobs. It's such a habit I even do it when I'm not plugging in.

The problem isn't people in a music store; you'll never change them anyways. It's your habits. Knobs get bumped, knobs get adjusted. How often do you wipe down your guitars? Why don't you have 1 or 2 seconds to check tone knobs on your own guitars, and others that you play? Are you really that busy? Don't blame anyone else.

Do you know how hard it is to tune without a tuner in a guitar shop with 3 teenagers cranking Enter Sandman on Line 6s and 3 dentists are blasting Layla on Custom Shop Strats.

Re: Strat users when trying out guitars please.....

^ Well ever since they banned "Stairway to Heaven" we dentists are hard up for good music store licks...

Re: Strat users when trying out guitars please.....

I'm going to tune every guitar I try out in the store to EEEEEE and roll the tone knob down in honour of this thread.

Please do. I've wanted to experiment with Ostrich tuning, but I'm always too lazy to do it.
