could someone post a diagram on how to wire my strat the following way:

i want the 5 way switch to remain as stock except that i want the middle position to select the bridge and neck instead of the middle alone, and i want one of my tone controls to be for the brigde pickup.

i'd appreciate anyone's help. thanks in advance.

I'd just use a Schaller Mega Switch.

1. neck
2. neck and middle
3. neck and bridge
4. middle and bridge
5. bridge

About $15.50 with a black knob. $2 for a white knob.

All you need is the standard 5-way, if you don't making a small consession to your switch positions. This is the way I wire my 5-way's:

Just switch the neck and middle wire to the 5-way. That will give you this:

1. middle
2. neck and middle
3. neck
4. neck and bridge
5. bridge

When you put the switch straight up, you have the neck. Going backwards acts like a 3-way with the bridge - going forwards acts as a 3-way with the neck. I love it. ;)

I can post a simple diagram when I get home that shows where to reconnect the tone control so that it works the bridge.

That's quite a concession though! No bridge and middle combo...one of my favorite tones on a Strat.

I'd go with the Schaller Mega Switch or a Fralin Blender Pot.

Yeah, I may not have been thinking. Thats the way I did my HSS Tele, where you want to keep the conventional Tele neck/bridge position. On a Strat would be different. :smack:

I'll make him up a diagram with several options. ;)

That is a pretty cool diagram. I may have to give that a try when I get home. ;)

That would be the *E* model switch right? If so I forgot that those could be used for three singles.

Yeah...that's the one I was thinking of. :)

But I like using a Blender Pot even better. It's nice to be able to blend just a touch of neck pickup into the full output of the bridge pickup....or vice versa.

Plus you get a master volume and master tone so the tone control works on all three pickups and you retain the use of the middle pickup by itself...not that I ever use it except combined with the neck or bridge.

Its funny, but I completely misread this the first time through. I read it as "No neck and middle", which is one of my favorite Strat positions. I rarely use bridge and middle.

I'll have to reinvestigate that "sound" to see what I might be missing. ;)
