Strat Wiring Problem - Low Output

Hey guys, so I recently wired up a pearly gates into my 72' strat replacing the old dimarzio that was in it. When I installed it i used a 250k push pull pot. While I had the guitar apart I also replaced the old jack as it was bent and used 24 guage wire to wire it up. The problem is that now that i've got it all back together it seems that only about half the output of the guitar is there. What i'm trying to say is that compared to my other guitars, the strat is only about half as loud. It doesn't matter what pickup i switch it to it is still very quiet. Now i'm wondering, before I tear the guitar apart to go fishing for the problem if maybe its the jack, the guage of wire or the pot. If anyone has any idea what the problem is could you please shed a little light. Thanks.

Re: Strat Wiring Problem - Low Output

All positions are really low output, It is wired up according to the duncan diagram, I cant see anything wrong with the wiring. Thats why i'm wondering if maybe its the jack or something. Just wondering if you guys had any ideas before I start unsoldering wires.

Re: Strat Wiring Problem - Low Output

ok the other two pickups are the original fenders?
if you you should have the green wire as hot on the SD pickup and the black as ground

fenders are south start

check does your volume knob roll off all the volume or does it just come back up
like a tone pot
if so then the ground on the volume pot is off

did you connect one leg of the new jack wire to the volume pot terminal and one leg to the back of the volume pot?

check this
insert guitar cable
with a multimeter set to ohms
test the tip to ground ( the bridge metal should work) then the sleeve to ground (thats the part just under the black ring on the end of the guitar cable)
the tip should be to hot and sleeve should be to ground if these are backwards odd things happen

if you changed nothing else
one of these things are the culprit

or maybe something else

Re: Strat Wiring Problem - Low Output

Ok thanks for this, i'll check all of these things today or tommorrow. I'm just sort of new to this so I don't want to start tearing things apart or checking things that maybe have nothing to do with the problem. Thanks for all your help.
