Stratocaster Semi-Hollow Eric Johnson

Re: Stratocaster Semi-Hollow Eric Johnson

I’ve heard Eric Johnson play “Cliffs of Dover” on a couple different Strats, a 335, and an SG. If I hadn’t been watching, I’d never know which guitar he was using. In my opinion, he is one of the quintessential examples of tone being from the player and not the gear.

However, I think his semi-hollow Strats are cool as hell.

I think it’s a great idea. And I love EJ’s music. He’s one of my favorite guitarists of all time.

I’ve had four EJ Strats and really tried to love them. I did like them, but felt that they all played a little stiff and that string bending was a little difficult compared to what I’m used to.

Also felt that the pickups were perfect for EJ’s tones but not for my own jazzy blues tones.

I missed the Antiquity Surfers and Fralin SP43 in my other Strat...a little ballsier sounding.
