I just purchased 3 humbuckers for a Strat. I'm going to be putting two Cool Rails in the Neck and Middle positions and a Hot Rails in the bridge position. I'm very excited about this, however, I have a question about how to wire this guitar.
When the Strat has either the Middle and Neck pickups engaged or the Middle and Bridge pickups engaged, how should I wire those pickup combinations? In other words, how should I wire the pickups when two of them are running at the same time?
1. Split the humbuckers with hum-cancelling?
-OR-
2. Don't split the humbuckers, but run the two pickups in parallel?
I'm not sure how much difference there would be or which option would be better. I plan on using a 5-way super switch.
I play in a LOUD country/rock/blues band and I've found that playing a guitar with humbuckers actually gives me a chance of being heard. It's sad really.
Anyway... I know this is very subjective, but if any of you have some opinions or have tried a similar experiment, your comments are most welcome.
Thanks,
~gabriel
