String alignment (pic)

How critical is it that all the strings line up over the pup polepiece? Check out my high E string. Anyway to fix this?

As long as that string isn't quieter than the others, it's not a big deal at all. When you bend, it should get closer to the pole piece so I don't see any problem.

2 things come to mind, but not enough for me to totally recommend without other more expert weigh in (jeremy, zerb, others?) ... you could try a trem spaced pickup instead or see about having a new saddle cut with the slot off center to let it line up ... that said, i'd probably just live with it if there is no tonal difference ... in my ibanez 540s, i forgot to order a trem spaced C5 ... once installed, it looked even worse than yours does .. BOTH E strings are WAY off ... but plugged in, i really cant hear any problems when i play

good luck

My les paul is like that, it doesn't affect it at all.

If it really bugs you you have 2 options (at least the way I see it)

1 - Get a trembucker

2 - re-cut the grooves on the saddles so they line up (you might need to get new saddles though)

If you aren´t bothered by a tonal difference, then you can leave it and wait until you are ;)

if you already are, 2 ideas:

1. (definitely cheaper) try raising the polepieces on the e strings, see if you can balance it out better...if you want you can try shimming something in on the bass side to move the pup closer to the treble side...

2. Measure between your e strings...I have a feeling that there will be a distance of 2" or more, center to center...You may wanna grab a Trembucker ;)

The other saddles look ok. If you really want to fix it, just recut another saddle.

Re: String alignment (pic)

Like what everyone said, if it doesn't affect the tone/volume of the strings that doesn't line up with the pole pieces, then you don't have to worry about anything. String/pole pieces alignment is not that important. If you considered getting an SD Trembucker, be aware that the pickup itself is significantly LONGER than a standard humbucker  and might give you a problem fitting it in the pickup cavity and pickup mounting ring.
