String disruption

Ok tell me how stupid I am or whatever, :chairshot BUT, dont strings disrupt the magnetic fields of the magnets in pickups, and thats how the sound generates??

If this is true, then how does this apply to string guages???

Will thinner and looser strings make it sound one way and fat tighter strings make other things happen?

Please explain it to this Dummy. :ban:

Re: String disruption

To stay in the same nutshell:

More string (bigger guage) = more disruption = more output and a "thicker" tone. ;)

Think of it like chucking a bigger rock in a pond. The bigger the rock, the bigger the splash and the further the ripples spread...

i haven't been trumped like that since I was giving a talk to a group of young gentlemen who had recently emerged from one of Her Majesty's institutions for young offenders.

I asked if anyone knew what neck relief was.

"25 quid extra!", came the reply:8:

Ever since i've been careful to call it "arc relief":31:
