String gauge for 24 3/4" scale

Right now I use a MIM Strat and I use the GHS Boomers 10 and when I tune to Drop C ( which I do frequently) they feel like rubber bands. I am getting a Hamer Standard and the neck scale is 24 3/4" instead of the 25.5" of a strat. Should I upgrade to gauge 11 strings on the shorter scale or stay 10 and move to 11 on the longer scale?

Re: String gauge for 24 3/4" scale

Is it important to stay GHS? If so, I'm gonna recommend a custom assembled set. If not, check out Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys. 11,15,22 (plain),30,42,54. Drop C has been my tuning of choice for over a year, and I've tried a billion different string guages. Out of all the custom sets, the Beefy Slinkys are my favorite.

They're super tight on a 25.5, and I'd use them on 24 3/4, also.

Tune to Drop E & use piano strings.

Na, its not important to stay GHS its just my current strings. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah, use at least 11's or 12's. If you like to do lead riffs too, go for Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms.

I've used 11's with a wound G (Dean Markley Cryogenic Round Wound Medium set) on a 24 3/4" scale in drop C. While they weren't the best (sort of like tuning to Drop D Half step down (Db) with 10's), they worked and were pretty tight. It was just the E string that bothered me a bit. But it wasn't too bad, and I used that for some time.
