STRING NIGHTMARE! d'addarios!

Re: STRING NIGHTMARE! d'addarios!

I have no problems with d'addario xl 10-46 on my tele and PRS.

For strats I prefer GHS nickel rockers for a warmer tone. If you're into SRV and Eric Johnson, check 'em out. That's what they use. They start out quite a bit duller, but their tone stays longer.

You guys go for a month+ with your strings? Does that include gigging? -I change mine before every gig if I can, and no more than every two gigs, so my strings get changed every two-three weeks on my main guitars. Leaving them on for a second gig is asking for a break, except on my graphtech equipped strat.

I also find that the intonation goes after one gig.

Hmmm.. yes. Which strings (in your experience) hold their intonation the best? That's what really pisses me off about old strings.

Do you clean your strings? I find that wiping the unwound strings with a kleenex does a world of good for intonation.

unfortunately NO string hold it's intonation after a lot of playing, once a string gets played and i MEAN PLAYED!
:laugh2: it gets dents, and wear spots from fretting and bending especially if you are aggressive player who has a lot of attack.
the elixer wound strings last longer due to the web or poly coating but that does not help the plain strings
the best thing i can tell you is to change whatever brand of strings when you hear a lot of waver and see a lot of wear remeber pro's that gig change them everynight
