Stringe gauge question C Standard tuning/ floyd rose system

Re: Stringe gauge question C Standard tuning/ floyd rose system

will ocaisonaly be droped into Drop B.

I don't quite understand how you would "drop" from C standard to Drop B. You drop the low E half step but raise all other five strings half step. It is more convenient to drop into Drop A# (I think In Flames use C standard and Drop A#). Just makes more sense to me, if you have to change your tuning quickly using one guitar.

Regardless... I'd go with 12-60 (D'Addario). You could also be happy with those Earny Balls 'Not Even Slinky' if you're fond of their weird G string. I'm not.

I've had success with the Dunlop Heavy Core strings, which are higher tension than normal strings. They can be a good alternative to going way up in gauge. If you like regular 10's in Eb standard, I bet you could get by with Heavy Core 11's in C. Or, as many others have said, 12's would work for that tuning. But then you run into the question of a huge plain G (which just feels awkward in any tuning imo) or a wound G (which can inhibit bending/quick playing).

My band plays in C standard. I use GHS low boomers 11 - 53 on the two guitars I use for band music, 24.75 and 25.5 scale length respectively, both with Floyd Rose bridges. Works great for me.
