Strings... again!

Ok guys... we've all heard this before, but what string brand do you like and why? I find so many people use Ernie Ball or D'Addario... but the reason?

Re: Strings... again!

I used to use only ernie ball, but I switch to dean markley blue steels cause they last a long time, but they didnt last long enough, so now I dont know what to go to, but I do like the 52-11 gauge. perfect for blues or country. You can still get the little microtonal bends for country, but the huge bends for blues.

Re: Strings... again!

I use a few different strings for different applications.

EBs are my "go to" strings on strats, bright and snappy

I tried some Everlys that were on sale, and they're nice strings ... I noticed they had those at Seymour's factory, too. :)

I use D'Addario on my acoustics, and pure nickel strings on Les Pauls and similar short scaled guitars.

It's really a matter of personal taste.

Re: Strings... again!

I'm sold on DR Tite Fits. The tone is great and lasts a good while for me, and I don't pop them as much as others.

Re: Strings... again!

DAddarios just because most of the guitarists I've played with have used them and they feel and sound pretty good. OK, I've only tried a couple sets over these first couple months of playing but why mess with a good thing.

Re: Strings... again!

Usually D'Addario's, used to be 10's but about to switch to 11's, they seem to be fairly regular strings, don't seem to break many (if any), fairly cheap too...

Re: Strings... again!

I like GHS Super steels on my Gibby SG, but i have to find another brand now, they don't make 011

On acoustics i love Ernie Balls Earthwood bronze "Light gauge" 011-052.

For my bass i just tried a pack of GHS Pressurewound strings, there egg shaped. Really good strings! I put them on like a month again, they still sound like it was there first day at work! ;)

Next time i will try GHS Contact core strings, just to see who's the man

Re: Strings... again!

i continue to switch around all the time
for the past few monthes i've been using Smith Burners and Snarling Dogs pretty exculsivley. they sound kickass
