Stupid Deal Direct Box

Re: Stupid Deal Direct Box

Did we seriously just turn a gear thread into health insurance?

Re: Stupid Deal Direct Box

Mine. I'm single, with no kids. My health insurance, even with dental and vision addons (when those have been options) has never cost me more than about $90/mo.

Mine is about $400 a month. last time I was out of work and had to pay cobra, it was $1400 a month. yeah, $1400 a month with NO job.. Crazyness.

Back on track.. Besides one of these direct boxes, what else do you need to record on a comp?? Im trying to get a set up together..

Re: Stupid Deal Direct Box

Almost every audio interface I've ever seen has had an instrument-level input option. No direct box needed.

Exactly what I was thinking!

I only ever use direct boxes at home if I want to run really long guitar - amp cable runs (if amp in another room etc) and I use the direct boxes to lower the impedence so I get less loss over the distance.

Re: Stupid Deal Direct Box

I think the last time I needed a DI box was in 1998 or something.... :laugh2:

I still own it mind you, but I only ever use it for the Speaker Sim these days if at all (H+K Red Box)

Re: Stupid Deal Direct Box

I use a DI pretty often at work, for patching unbalanced headphone-level outputs into balanced line and mic level inputs (usually a laptop or iPod, into a PA or soundboard).

But that's about it.
