Stupid impedance Q

Alright guys i currently have a V12 and a T75 in my combo, and i couldnt get a 16 ohm version of the V12, so right now i have a 16 ohm and 8 ohm speaker in my cab, in parallel. That gives me 12 ohms correct? So i set my amp to 8, everything is cool. I was reading on the marshall site the other day (dont remember how i got there..) and it says that you should half the impedance of the lower speaker and set the amp to that.. in this case it would be set to 4. :smack: WHAT? that doesnt make sense... anyone understand this? My amp has been working fine at 8, but just in case.

That makes perfect sense. An 8 and a 16 in parallel is 5.33. Remember, total impedance is always less than the smallest impedance.

Also, the 8 ohm speaker will be dissapating twice as much power as the 16 ohm. I'm not sure how that translates to sound, I guess if you like it, cool... but just so others know that combine mis-matched impedances.

Yea i just did the equation wrong.. alright. So 4 or 8 ohms will work right?

Huh? Maybe in parallel, but not if you wire in series...

And yeah---a 12 ohm load (8+16/2), not 5.3, which is only possible with three 16 ohm speakers in parallel.

That 8 ohm V12 is taking most of the output. Get another 8 OR another 16 ohm speaker...Marshalls don't like mismatches.
