Well I checked one of the bucket list boxes in Nashville. I finally got to play an original Les Paul Burst.

It was pretty eff'n awesome too. The hype is not overrated, ridiculous awesome, way better than I was ready for and I was expecting a lot. 1960 cherry burst standard and the original PAF'S did not disappoint. Through a vintage Marshall Plexi. This was at Rumble Seat. Killer vintage guitar and amp shop, friendly staff and it was set up where it felt homey. Tons of killer vintage stuff. Most of it out of my league but I did score a MXR Phase 90 for my bag of White Zombie tone tricks.

I was after pickups too so the guys said go down to Carter Vintage Guitars.
This place was guitar heaven. Three or four hundred electrics, several tryout rooms each loaded with about a dozen vintage amps to test on. No joking they had more than likely 500 different guitar pedals. Stacks of hard to find pickups too. They had dozens of sets of Lollar, Bare knuckles, OX4, Seymour Duncan, Lace etc.... I ended up buying a set of BKP Riff Raffs after my '60 burst encounter a half hour earlier. This is THE best electric guitar store ever!

I was also after fuzz pedals. They had all five of my try list and set me up with a vintage Fender deluxe reverb to try them on. After a few minutes the guy brought me 8 more to try out from talking about what I wanted earlier. None of my trys made it but one of his did, with a VERY honorable mention to another. I got a EarthQuaker Spires Fuzz and almost a Matthew's Effects, The Whaler Fuzz. I also got a Caitlinbread Sabbra Cadabra for some Iommi fun.

After that I went to Gruhn. I'm not going to badmouth them, but don't have a lot of good to say about this place.
Next I hit Broadway and started asking the players where to go. They all said Eastside Music Supply. This was a players store! Smaller but a great selection of quality guitars and amps for serious players who know what's good and they had even rarer pedals than Carter's. They probably had 200 pedals and I ended up buying an Old Blood, Haunt Fuzz, a killer non-traditional fuzz.

The two that I ran out of money to go to that all the local boys also said to visit was, Corner Music & Fanny's Music. Next time for sure.
Nashville was a REALLY AWESOME guitar safari town!
