Don't know if I'm telling you something you already know but it's best not to use the volume control on any pedal to overdrive the input stage of a s/s amp - this usually doesn't work very well. I've heard that the Bad Monkey is like the Boss OD3 (which I own) and it's a really nice pedal.

Twin tube classic or blue.
TTC Made my SS peavey sound much better, i was looking for the tones you seek as well.

I recently got an EHX HotTubes pedal, and that thing sounds amazig trhough a 4X10 Hot Rod DeVille. (clean channel)

I can only imagin that it will also sound very g00d through an SS amp, like a Randal !!!
