Suggestions for bare/cloth covered wire?

Might seem silly but looking for suggestions on gauge and stranded vs solid for "jumper" wires. Most of what I've seen is solid, though I don't know the gauge - I suspect somewhere around 20-24AWG.

Just looking for suggestions and/or places to buy. Obviously don't need a ton but if there's a general "standard" for this sort of thing I'd like to stick to that.

Thanks!

What are you using it for?

A "jumper" between terminals on a p/p pot would require different wire than just "jumping" a ground between backs of pots. For grounding backs of pots you could use anything between 28ga stranded to 12ga solid.

Re: Suggestions for bare/cloth covered wire?

Was thinking a bit of both honestly but wasn't sure if there were some general standards as far as gauge and insulation for a given use case.

I bought some 22awg tinned copper (bare) for jumper work but I'm not sure if that's the "best" for that job or not. Just looking for some general guidance really. Still pretty new to doing my own wiring/mods

Still, what do you mean by "jumper"? Be more specific with what you are wiring.

For all of my wiring (pots, switches, grounds, etc.) I use 24 ga stranded silicone insulated wire.

Honestly, I think that's the answer I was looking for. I was able to use the bare wire to jumper directly across terminals but for jumping "between" components (switches to pots, pots to jacks, etc.) I wasn't sure what gauge would be recommended.

Thanks!

Re: Suggestions for bare/cloth covered wire?

I use solid core insulated copper, I believe 26 AWG. I've used stranded with success, too, but the solid core is stiffer and I have an easier time keeping wires tidy. I'll often use uninsulated wire between backs of pots and grounding pot terminals to pots.

On the signal side, the only time I use bare wire is if I'm adding a jumper to two adjacent lugs, such as on a DPDT push/pull.
