Hi Everyone,
I'm new to these forums, and pretty new to researching pickups for my guitars overall, so I want to consult some of you wonderful experts in here.
I've just got an Asher Hawaiian Junior Lap steel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4HbGHS3eVE , and are fiddling a little with it. I've installed a Duesenberger Multibender http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr2DrQzGh6A&feature=PlayList&p=04424DF423BCAC40&index=0&playnext=1 on it.
Now the Asher came with some Asher custom lap steel humbuckers, that I don't find perfectly suited for my styles. They are very heavy on bottoms and mids, and nice for fat sounding blues. But with the Multibender I hope to be imitating some pedal steel licks, and would like some sweet highs with lots of sustain. Reference tracks for the sound I'd like is Patty Loveless' “You don't seem to miss me” and Carrie Underwoods “Just a dream”. It doesn't have to be an exact match, though. But this is what I have to work with now, so I try to make the best of it.
The Asher body and neck is one piece made of mahogany (rosewood fretboard), and it's quite a solid piece of guitar. So I look to modify the blues tone to a little more country steel sounding. More specs http://www.asherguitars.com/lap_steel_electro_h_jr.php .
Any thoughts on pickups for the sound I'm looking for? I'll appreciate your ideas and suggestions.
Best Regards
Magne
