Suggestions on rewinding Nighthawk bridge pup

I think I'm going to get the bridge pickup in my Nighthawk rewound. It is just not doing it for me. To my ears it is weak, lacks character, and lacks the dynamics I want. I just want to get some suggestions on what you guys think would be good for me, and what you guys like. I love the JB, but I'm not sure I want another one. This is my #2 guitar and I'm looking for something different. I was think about getting it rewound to '59 specs, but I have yet to play a '59b. I used to have a Demon though- pretty close, right? I have no experience the Customs, or much else. I pretty much stick with what I like, but I want something different.

Specs: The Nighthawk has a mahogany body and neck, with a 1/4" maple cap, 25.5" scale. It is brighter than a Les Paul, darker than an alder Strat.

There is a minhumbucker in the neck that is REALLY warm, so I I would like a good match for that. It should sound good split by its self, and split in series with the the split minihum (got that?). I love the harmonics of the JB, the mids of the Demon and P-90. I like the twang of a clean PAF, but that is not the main concern for me. It would have to do well under high gain, good articulation. Maybe a PG?

As you can see, the pickup is dual slug. The bridge side slugs are larger than the neck side. They are abotu the size of a Duncan QP strat slug. Any suggestions? Thanks for any and all replies.

MJ could put screws in the normal sized slug bobbin if you wanted her to, that said I would get something kind of different...you really need the specs on the mini bucker so you know what you are trying to match up with...a 78 sounds cool, as does maybe an opver wound PG, maybe an S-Deco, the Jimy Page sounds like a good choice. If you wanted to go more off the shelf style the CC is on of my favs, as are the PG's, maybe an Alnico II 59, or even a Seth...I have too many ideas!

I would like something smooth and creamy under gain. Thanks, keep 'em comin'!

Aren't the Customs kind of shrill on the top end, or is that just the C5?

Ahhh, I see A2 in the CC. Does that pickup have some "tone mud" associated with it?

I don't think so, not at all...I love it, I use mine with an Alnico 2 Pro, and it's amazing...very smooth, pretty compressed, but it just sings and sings!

If you are getting it rewound, The EVH or the "78" as its now called will sound close to the CC. Its not as high output as the CC so it might mix better with the minibucker.

I have a feeling that the minibocker in the Nighthawk is gonna be pretty damn HOT!

It's not like what I've heard many minis described as. It is not jangly, or bright at all- more warm and rounded. It is a different pickup from what is in the Firebird.

Interesting. Go with the CC then.
