Suhr Amps

Hello everyone,
Anyone play one of these Suhr amps? I have heard some damn good things about them. Excellent clean, smooth crunchy Rhythm channel and a nasty scary Lead channel. I have not plugged into one myself yet but I'm gonna find where they sell them and take one for a test drive.

Re: Suhr Amps

Suhr or CAA? Either way they're all pretty much like modded Marshalls. They sound great. The CAA PT100 might be the most tweaked of them. The Badger stuff is really good, but single channel. I played the Badger 18 & 30, CAA OD100 & OD100+, and PT100. I think the PT100 might be the most versatile of them all, but I like the overdrive of the OD100+ a little more I think.

Re: Suhr Amps

CAA is Fender type clean, Marshallish Lead.

You can also get the dirt channel in a handwired head (only 1 channel).

Re: Suhr Amps

I've played the CAA OD100 before, this particular one had 5881s in it. Glorious amp... Fender cleans and Marshall leads about describes it but it's so loud, smooth, crisp and clear sounding, much more so than most big amps. Very nice effects loop, too. I don't remember what options were on it, though. The PT100 by comparison, I thought, was too bright for my taste.

I remember plugging into a Soldano SLO and not being terribly impressed by it. The CAA sounded like what I wanted the Soldano to sound like.

My next tube head is either going to be one of those or a Friedman BE100.

Re: Suhr Amps

I was very impressed with the way Chicago Music Exchange demoed the Badger 18w head - I'd quite happily take one of those I think.

Re: Suhr Amps

One of my local dealers carries a few. Badger 30 is fantastic. I would love to have one.
