Super-cheap

Well, it's been a couple of months since I got this, but I finally got the pics uploaded. :smack:

Picked this up at a flea market. The body neck and pickguard were being held together by about three screws total, and the rest of the parts were in a coffee can. Picked up the whole shooting match for $25! You can tell from the third picture it looks like someone was playing cymbals with the headstock. LOL

It's a Mexican made Strat from 1997. I've got it sanded down now and ready for a new paint job when the weather warms back up. The paint job was fine, but I really don't like black guitars and rosewood fingerboards.

Here's all the parts from the coffee can. Most of it is junk, but there are at least some useable springs and screws.

This is the DeArmond pickup that was in the coffee can. It has a broken lead - don't know if anything else is messed up. Does anyone know anything about it or if it's worth trying to fix?

Re: Super-cheap

Knobs and pup are awesome. Have fun with the guitar, any ideas for the color?

Hijack: Slugs and screws on a single coil? What ar the screws for, holding it down? why so many? Any influence on tone (they seem to be connected to the slugs).

It's a secret. :D

I thought it was a pretty wacked out design, myself. The screws adjust the slug height, best I can tell. I haven't actually messed with it any.
Do the DeArmond's have separate coils for each pole piece?
This one's just got one coil.

Re: Super-cheap

I figured out what those screws are for, they're there to adjust the slugs. It kind of seems like an elaborate solution to a simple problem.
