Super Fuzz

Re: Super Fuzz

It wouldn't surprise me if a known pedal builder would fix it for free, just so he could reverse engineer it for his own use. I'm not sure I've seen a clone of that pedal, so it might give them the idea.

great idea .. he builds some pretty nifty fuzzes of his own like the Sasquatch and Wendigo .. and he's fetching $299 for those.. I know it's a shameless plug but you guys should really check out Tortuga Effects.. his univibe, called Neptune is freakin awesome

Re: Super Fuzz

you lucky duck!! Been gassing for one lately, and I used to have one!

sick sick sick sick fuzz/doom/wall of noise. at the same time barely usable, if that makes any sense...

.. keep it! the housing alone is amazing (that's most the mojo right there!!), even if you put a clone circuit in there (which you probably don't need to do)

I can't imagine just running across one like you did.

I know man.. I feel pretty lucky.. and I'm definitely gonna give this thing a shot.. I'm not much of a fuzz-face-fan except in small doses.. but I'm sure this will have some use in a recording situation.. or for some insane moments on stage.. that is if it ever gets fixed

The housing is just absolutely sick looking.. I love old 70's FX boxes, like the old oversized Electro Harmonix, Ross and the like..

Re: Super Fuzz

Thanks! I grabbed the schematics..

Speaking of parts.. Small Bear Electronics looks promising.. anybody have any experience using/ordering from them?

Small Bear is where I get about half of my DIY pedal stuff. It's definitely the place to get small quantities of stompbox-specific parts. In this case, highly recommended.

Re: Super Fuzz

Pity it's unsalvageable.

I'll give you five bucks for it.

Seriously wow Ive been wanting a Super Fuzz for so long but the price on them is outrageous what an awesome find. Im going to dig around my garage and see what I can find today LOL

Highly recommended! :smokin:

Years ago he split outta here in a hurry, I can only imagine what for.. but I have a pretty good idea why..

Anyway, he left one of his basses (yep he was in a hurry), and some boxes, so out of respect/privacy, I just stuck his crap out of the way and didn't go thru any of it.. until yesterday when I just couldn't stand looking at my garage anymore..

Outside of the useless junk I threw out.. I found a couple of wide leather guitar straps, an old Ibanez Graphic EQ stompbox (works!), an old DOD digital delay (also working), and that Super Fuzz..

Re: Super Fuzz

There is a Behringer SF300 SuperFuzz which is a copy of Boss FZ-2 which is based on on SuperFuzz. It isnt replacement for the original, but anyone can try unique sound of Mode 2 for few bucks.

Second fuzz, Mode 2 is engaged after a while of initial playing. While demo isnt too good overall, it shows just how different this one is.

Already mentioned demo of original from Gearmandude

There was also a big thread on FSB regarding SuperFuzz, most likely full of diy information, just google Univox SuperFuzz FSB.

Re: Super Fuzz

Build Your Own Clone sell the "Leeds Fuzz" , which according to their site is a "faithful recreation" of the Super Fuzz.

http://www.buildyourownclone.com/leeds.html

Their instructions include a schematic. I don't know how faithful it is to the original, but it's a start. Sadly, their board layout is completely different.

If worse comes to worse.. I could put this inside this enclosure.. I like how the instructions lay it all out for you, so you dont hafta be an electrical engineer to complete it.. and for 75 bucks.. wth..

Re: Super Fuzz

This thing sounds sweet, and would easily fit into this funky orange box..
Muwahahahahahahaaaa...
