Super reverb inspired head kits?

I'm looking for a new amp kit and I was so impressed by that super reverb I once played that I'd just love to build a simplified version of it, or something highly inspired by it. Where should I look? TAD has kits but they're WAY expensive... :(

It has to be a head, and if possible simplified... in a perfect world it'll be 20W as opposed to 45W as well :D But I'm not hoping too strong...

Re: Super reverb inspired head kits?

All BF Fender amps sound very similar...to me the wild cards are the Champ (it's single ended with a different driver and is very small, has a single chanel and an 8 inch speaker) a Princeton (also has a different driver and is also a single channel). HOwever, all of the REVERB models of Fender BF amps soiund very similar not taking into account the speakers...in fact a lot of a specific BF Fender amps tone IS the speaker set up...look at a Pro Reverb, Super reverb and a Vibroverb...all in the 35-45 watt range, all have verb and trem, all are 2 channels all run 6L6 power tubes and 12AX7 and 12AT7 preamp tubes yet all sound pretyt different if you compare them and IMO what you are hearing is the difference between 1x15, 2x12 and 4x10!

End result is that if you are after a BF Fender tone in a head get a SF Bandmaster Reverb and roll with it

Re: Super reverb inspired head kits?

Thanks dude! Those go for relatively cheap too...how are their silverface versions?

Re: Super reverb inspired head kits?

there are ONLY silverface versions of the Bandmaster Reverb as they were released after the CBS buyout

Re: Super reverb inspired head kits?

Some bandmaster heads... They cost around 700 pounds which is 1,400 dollars... no reverbs though. But I don't mind the absense of reverb...I'll be on the lookout for Fender heads :)

Re: Super reverb inspired head kits?

yeah, the "bandmaster reverb" is a silverface only and that's the one you want. the blackface and later silverface "bandmaster" heads, aren't like the super at all. (well, kinda, but not really)

Re: Super reverb inspired head kits?

Well seeing the rarity and price of Fender heads around, I'd probably buy the cheapest Silverface i could find, build a very simple effects loop and get a simple reverb pedal... I'm not too fussy about reverb anyway...

Non Reverb Fender amps don't sound nearly as good as their reverb counterparts...even if you don't use the Reverb get the version that has it!! Thank me later...

Re: Super reverb inspired head kits?

Haha I'll thank you now as seeing the prices in Europe it's highly unlikely I'll ever get one it seems...Thanks for all the help though ;) Another dream that's flying past unfortunately...
