Super Strat style guitar?

Oklay, this is a weird question I know. I currenty use a Les paul Standardd, PRS McCarty, and Dean Evo Deluxe as my main guitars. I am a huge fan of guys like Jerry Cantrel and George Lynch so I have a desire for a 25.5" scale bolt style guitar. I know thes emay not be classified as shredders and neither am I, but maybe a guitar to rip it up in the styles of Lynch and Cantrell to name a few? My problem is that I tend to like the classics and feel I could use a strat. I also tend to like chunkier necks and wider necks which I guess poses a problem. I also prefer a hardtail.

Any thoughts?

Re: Super Strat style guitar?

georgr lynch is considered a shredder by most and i think cantrell's playing is badass. most of the superstrats that i know of have floyd or kahler trems.

G&L

G&L

G&L, builds some great super strats. The Invader, is their main shred style guitar. The Legacy, can be had in SSH setup, or HH setup, and it would be less money than an Invader. If you want a locking tremelo, the modern Invaders come with a real Floyd Rose. Those are current model G&L's. The following out of production G&L's would work also:

Invader, first body style
Rampage
Superhawk
Interceptor
Climax

Sprinter

Re: Super Strat style guitar?

The neck might not be wide enough for your tastes, but the musicman EVH/Axis is the best shredder guitar I've ever played. Cantrell used them a lot in the early 90s.

I've played a couple of George Lynch signatures, and they tend to be way too heavy and bright sounding for my tastes. you'd probably love the wide necks on them, though.

Re: Super Strat style guitar?

I agree on both the above counts (every Music Man I've played has been awesome to shred on and sounded great) and if you're after a super-strat that goes fast and hard you can't go wrong with some of the G&L options.

I have a 1991 Legacy with a JB jnr that rocks out well for shredding stuff...

I'd go the Warmoth route. That's probably the only way you can get something 100% the way you want it.

Re: Super Strat style guitar?

I find the neck on most EB guitars to be painfully small so I never give them a thought. I tend to like the Peavey Wolfgang standard much more. I played a few G&Ls recently and wasn't that impressed. They didn't feel or play as nice as my LP or McCarty. Maybe I'll get another Wolf and then stick with Gibsons, PRSi, and Strats.

Re: Super Strat style guitar?

I build a flat style double cutaway guitar (less strat, leaning more toward the old prs EG) with or without pickgaurd - i can do any neck carve you want - i do a nice fat one people seem to like - and can throw in any pickups you want

feel free to pm me

cheers
