LOL...The JB was hit or miss for me until I realized that the tone control in the circuit was my issue. When you drop the tone control out of the cicuit (or get a no-load control), you reduce the loading on the cicuit because there is less resistance. Your sound is brighter, more defined, more alive, and just a touch "hotter".

The JB has some bacon to it and the additional brightness from the reduced loading really balances out well and gives you balls and bite in alder/maple with the Mesas, Bogner, and Peaveys. It's personal preference thing.

Thanks. I really wanted to know the results because if your results resonated with me, then I'd consider it. That's all. I definitely like the "more alive" aspect.

Right now I was particularly interested in getting a soloist, so wondered if anyone had compared the SL3 witht he SL2H. the SL2H is american made so guaranteed to be that bit better but it is nearly twice as much :/ All help is much appreciated.

You'd be best buying the SL2H, but you'd want to be very sure it's worth buying because of it's price.
