super-switch wiring 4 strat

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

Sorry I edited my posts. I used this diagram:

Worked perfectly. My question is can you mix all three pickups in the center position and would it be hum cancelling.

I'm using 2 SSL-5's rw/rp in the neck and bridge and a regular SSL-2 in the middle for hum cancelling in the 2/4 positions.

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

yes
adding the standard wound into the middle position will cancel some of the hum

not all but a noticeable portion

the two "like wound" singles, either both RW or standard, are not hum canceling
probably VERY noisey

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

Maybe just the way I installed it. I'm actually very happy with the sound of the 2 SSL-5's together in the middle position even though they are not hum canceling. Just wondering if adding the middle pickup to it would make it hum canceling. Using the diagram you made what would I need to do to try this out?

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

sure just add another jumper
you can see what I was doing , rite

kinda easy

if you get tired of one of thos RW singles

hollar at me
:)

heck

get two alligator clips and a piece of wire

and move the jumper round

see what you like before committing to solder

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

Got it!

Connect the 3's!

Now I understand how the super switches work!

Just tried it, all three pickups on and hum canceling but....
Think I'll go back to the original way.
Although it is hum canceling it sounds too much like the 2 and 4 positions.

The bridge and neck only in the middle position works better and is more useful even though it's not hum canceling.

Yup, just removed the jumper...sounds better with just the neck and bridge combined...very nice clean sound. Much better then a middle pickup by itself. I'll actually start using the middle position now!

Thanks for all your help!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the Mega Switch, I'm looking for a diagram using a Super Switch!

FenSwitch5WaySuper.jpg

Go to the Fender website and find the schematic for the US-made James Burton Signature Telecaster model. Borrow the 12 contact selector switch connection configuration from that.

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

if you can dream it..............

lots of variations

as I said

I am currently studying on how to get the most out of a
H/S/H with a five way and push/pull volume and tone

thinkin...........
thinkin.............
head hurting...............
hungry.........................
ADD kickin in.........................
gotta play more............................

dang it

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

oh my
ok let me get my head round yon post

S-1 switch is a 4pole double throw?
ya mean yon superswitch?
and a push/pull would be double pole double throw
yer basic push pull with three rows of pins
2 commons
and "in" connects one row of pins to common
and "out" connects the other?

hmmmmm
can you draw that up for me?

forwards - backwards I really dont care
just to get the idea
:)

Re: super-switch wiring 4 strat

well
wow that is fascinating
I do not intend to pay for a drawing
it is an interesting thing tho
I recently put the TS-1s on the Jazz/JB combo on my RG2 with the superswitch(4pole-double wafer shown above)
with the

neck
neck and bridge series
neck and bridge parallel
neck and bridge series-Phase Reversed
bridge

wiring

got some forty combinations

and it really is just too many

I only use a few

several sound almost the same

I think for this project I'll just use the standard 5way switch
for
neck
neck-middle
middle
bridge-middle
bridge

and a push/pull volume to slpit the two humbuckers
and a push/pull tone to do the "bridge always on"
that should give me all the usable tones in a H/S/H

but your idea sounds great
I'll keep you in mind if'n I need ya to look over my shoulder tho

thanks
