Hey Guys, see if you can figure this one out.

Stock Schecter Omen 6 (2001 korean) going into.......

BOSS ME-50 multi fx on the Blues Driver setting (drive set to 9 o'clock, doesnt distort at that setting) going into.......

70's Ace Tone Amp (single channel SS) with the drive set to 10 o'clock (doesnt distort tone until you play hard) resulting in.......

The thickest clean tone ever!

So I've got humbuckers driving 2 distortion settings in line with each other resulting in the sweetest, thickest, cleanest tone I've ever had.

With the Ace Tone just about dead, and my lack of trust for digital equipment, i want to upgrade my rig and I'm thinking I should do some research on distortion effects being used for the opposite of what they were intended , to get a killer tone. Does anybody else have any odd combinations of things to get great clean tones? And can somebody explain to me how this clean tone could happen with 2 distorion effects running together? I know i said I ran the 2 distortions with bugger all gain, but there's an added thickness to the tone and I'd like to know how it works so I can take the idea to future rigs.

This is like trying to develop a recipe from a cake. ;)

There's a lot of things that might be involved, but my best guess is that its impedance mismatch issues . . . in a good way. You probably aren't driving either device into clipping. Maybe. ;)

One can get a various presets while playing around with your guitar volume/tone knobs and switches, combining couple of pedals with small amounts of distortion.
Thats call GAINing the expirience:)
Just yesterday I tried overdriving sound through my amp, then sending it from the amps line out to the guitar processor, than into second amplifier, and finally cabinet.
Think thats boredom. I would be better off without all that stuff.
If I just had couple of thousands of dollars for a decent tube amplifier I would be satisfied with the sound at last :)

Re: Super Thick Clean Tones

I get thicker clean tones by running a Boss OD in front of my amp with the level maxed and the gain close to zero. Sounds alot bigger, not squished, like with using (or overusing) a compressor.
