I'm not going to try to steer you away from a Jackson or Charvel by any means if you can find one in your price range. You can find some of the Japanese ones pretty cheap used.
Another option to consider, if you don't
have to have the Floyd, is a Peavey Predator. You can get them dirt cheap and they're great guitars. You can do tons of stuff to it before you spend as much as you would on a lot of the more popular guitars.
Is there a Godin that fits what you're looking for? They're not too expensive here, so I'm sure there not bad up there.
