Surfers with SSL-3 hot vs. surfers with Texas hot bridge

I am ready to put surfers in the neck and middle of my62 reissue strat, but wondering if I shold keep the SSL-3 hot with baseplate untapped in the bridge position. I really like the pickup for heavy type rock gain channel of my Bogner.

What would the difference in tone be between the SSL-3 in the bridge vs. the texas hot bridge?

Should I look into a SSL3-tapped for the bridge/middle position for wiring purposes to get a more more of notch sound, knopfler sound out of position 4?

I like both, but the Antiquity Custom, even at 9.7k or so, is still somewhat vintage, but better since it's not so weak, and with the Alnico 2 mags, it's pretty touch sensitive

the SSL-3 Hot is a different type pickup - fat, thick, lots of mids - I think there's a comment somewhere on the main site that the SS-L 3 rivals the output of a humbucker, and I think that's true. I have one in my favorite strat, with APS 2s in the other spots

You think I can use my current SSL-3 hot with the surfers in the neck and middle position?...

Or would you buy a tapped SSL-3 and tap it in position 4 (middle/bridge)?

I have the SSL-3 Hot with a baseplate in the bridge with SSL-5 in neck and middle of my 62 RI strat...Too overwound for neck and middle though....

I love the sound of the SSL-3 bridge for the george lynch type rock sound I typically do on high gain rhythym and leads..
It is nice to keep the single coil look in the bridge position of my strat.

well, since you already have the SSL-3, why not just try it?

I kind of like the notch tone between my SSL-3 and APS-2 mid - it's not a stock sound, though, but that's OK.

the fact that you're going to use Surfers suggests you want a fairly vintage sound, so I understand why you'd want the tap ... in fact, I also got a tapped Hot bridge for that reason. ... my solution has been to just have several strats, but that might not work for you.

that's why I'd just try what you have and see how you like it first

I suppose the real question is whether you want a stock vintage sound or something else. And there's always a trade off with strats, depending on how important those stock notch tones are to you.
