Suzuki Guitars

Has anybody heard of Suzuki Guitars?
I found a ES-335 copy by Suzuki... looks really old and plays well.

I've searched around the internet and came up with very little.

Any info on build quality and pricing would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Suzuki Guitars

Going only by the fact that Yamaha also makes a whole bunch of different stuff of decent quality I would see no reason to be too skeptical of Suzuki. If nothing else for the right price it could at the very least be a conversation piece.

Japanese companies seem to make a lot of products of fairly decent quality besides the main ones they are known for.

I googled 'suzuki guitars' and came up with a bunch of links. What were you doing as to have found very little?

Re: Suzuki Guitars

Thanks for that.
What I meant is that I couldn't find anything on this particular guitar. I've found that its possibly called the Suzuki Grand. But couldn't find anything else on it.

Re: Suzuki Guitars

Maybe try the Japan axe forums since they seem to have some kind of knowledge on obscure Japanese guitars/brands. Pictures would be appreciated.

It may or may not be the same as the motorcycle company as Suzuki is a fairly common name in Japan. Not 100% sure but just tossing out that possibility as well. But then again when you have companies like Bridgestone making tires and golf equipment and bicycles and Yamaha making trombones, motorcycles, tennis racquet's and guitars I wouldn't be surprised if it was though.

Re: Suzuki Guitars

Suzuki, Vantage, Morris, Stagg etc....
were brands predominantly sold in Australia and the UK.
Prices here (Aus) are picking up as the 70's/80's Jap guitar
revival picks up steam.
Most were affordable start up or middle of the road guitars
but some models were very well built and appointed.
Here in OZ, Yamaha was always a cut above the rest with
some REAL serious guitars.

These are the guitars we played here in our teens.

Re: Suzuki Guitars

Thanks for that guys. I went into the shop for another play and I might go for it.

Re: Suzuki Guitars

I have a Suzuki "Hummingbird" acoustic copy ,that i,ve had for almost thirty years.I had the wood work re-stained recently along with a refret. I put an ivory nut on it not long after i got it,as the origonal nut broke right where the first string sits in it.The ivory nut improved its tone resonance greatly.I love it and nearly everyone who,s picked it up and played it;think it,s great too!:kabong:

Re: Suzuki Guitars

I have a Suzuki Three-S acoustic

The inside label says:
Suzuki Guitar EST 1887 NO.FE200B
Suzuki Violin Co. LTD - Nagoya Japan

I've had this guitar since around 1981 but found very little info when I did a search a few years ago. Not a cheap guitar IMO

Good luck

Re: Suzuki Guitars

sweet!
my first guitar (1975 ) was a hollow body sort of a 335 copy made by toyota!
like i always say, if you can build a car, you can pretty much build anything!
i am in the process of (re) building an old (1984) warmoth strat, AND putting a stroked 383 chevy small block in an old (1986) camaro.
i like 'em older, but the $ to age ratio really climbs before 1970 on both!
that toyota guitar wasn't half bad, very well made and finished. I also drive a celica now :) go figure, i swear i remember a "honda" once too (not hondo).

Re: Suzuki Guitars

I have one of the susuki 335 models that I have had for years and it is nothing short of a great guitar! I looked everywhere for information on this guitar and like you came up with very little. But I love the way mine plays and would be very hard pressed to ever get rid of it.

Re: Suzuki Guitars

Anyone who has a FE200B, please email me.
They play and sound better than any acoustic
I've ever played in my 47 yrs of playing.
Thanks,
Tim
