Swapping bridge on MIM Tele

Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone has swapped the standard 6 saddle bridge on a MIM tele for the vintage 3 barrel one. Did it require new holes to be drilled?

Thanks. Oh and if anyone wants to trade a 6saddle for the 3 barrel (and a white pickguard for a black one), I'm interested.

Thanks

Re: Swapping bridge on MIM Tele

I replaced MIM bridges with the WIlinson compensated 3-saddle from Guitar Fetish. It's a nice bridge, the intonation's good, and it screws right on to MIM (or Squier CV) guitars. The price is right, too.

I recently installed my third Wilky - that's how much I like 'em.

I used the part they use on the Fender AVRI 62 Custom Tele.

Got mine off ebay, with the bridge pickup in it. Anyways it was completely drop in with no problems.

Just don't get anything that says it's made for Am. Std. guitars. Those are the ones with different hole patterns.

I recall that Astrozombie did exactly this a couple of months ago. He also posted a few pics.

I have performed the same mod on several Squier Silver Series Telecasters over the years. This model is top-loading. Hence, it requires stringing holes to be drilled through the body and string anchoring ferrules to be fitted.

Re: Swapping bridge on MIM Tele

I replaced the bridge in my MIM with a regular Fender 3 saddle and installed a Broadcaster pup at the same time. Do it. It was one of the best mods I ever did to a guitar. Many people say it isn't so, but, that trad Tele bridge makes a difference. I clumsily ruined the pup by making several swaps over time and I miss it. The MIM bridge pup is ok but a trad bridge and pup is Teleness.

Yeah, it dropped in no problem AT ALL. I used the flathead screws that came with the bridge but in retrospect it would have been a good idea to use the stock ones that were the same, just phillips head.

I installed the Hip Shot version with no problem. Intonates great and sounds even better.
