Yes, but what must be said is that the hum-free SC pickups that I use all make a great job of sounding close to a single coil and with absolutely NO HUM!
It's when you compare them side by side that one will notice that a true single coil is much more "alive" sounding.
In a live situation I prefer having no hum but for playing at home, for my own pleasure, having the true single coil sound is really nice.
