Sweet NGD,,,

@ Clint: You really should be careful buddy. This is how dudes like Jefferey Dahmer started out w/ the chronic bullshitting/lies, then torturing small animals, profanity, indecent exposure, public self-gratification & well, you know the rest...

In a direct comparison the difference between the two axes, Sire & Yamaha is pretty much as I expected. The Sire has a more Vintage vibe to it's tone and the Pacifica is a bit smoother, more modern sounding & a hair brighter too ..even unplugged the Sire is slightly mellower/warmer on the top strings. Though that's probably also due to the EB 10's on the Sire vs. the D'addario 9's on the Yamaha. That's not to say the Yamaha is shrill at all....it's just more of a screamer :D

Specs wise they're about the same. Both have Alder bodies/maple veneers, roasted maple vs. rosewood necks, HSS alnico 5 pu's and all the usual Strat-like trappings. The Pacifica costs half what the Sire did. My next guitar (upcoming NGD) costs half what the Pacifica did and is also an S type HSS, (obviously Poplar, not Alder for the price) but otherwise w/ pretty similar specs & will soon be added to this thread. Interesting to see what happens as we go down by halves in price...

I've never owned a Poplar guitar so lets see what that's like too :bigthumb:

I'm just going to put them both here for educational purposes (and cuz the vid thumbnails make the page look pretty) :bigthumb:

I will add HSS axe #3 to this post when I've done the scientific/educational vid for it.. (in the meantime, here's hoping my cats don't move the mic...or there goes all the educationality) :banghead:

But before that.....

...and stepping up to twice the price + of the Sire....ye olde Yngwie Strat.. :bigthumb:

Bridge Single (no splitting here...the other two had the bridge pup split

Can get pretty bright but I guess that's what the Yng man's looking for sound-wise.

I'm hoping intellectually stimulating & educational video's like these ^^ will hopefully turn dudes like Clint (and perhaps GuitarDoc) away from a life of lewdness, crime & Infamy, but eh, who knows?

Any particular reason why you seem to want that so much?

Btw, feel free to post any videos of your own that you might feel like sharing in here...All are welcome. Don't want anyone to feel left out :)

@ Mincer: Sure thing ..I'm all about being OT :bigthumb:

Bluesier take on it w/ the new Sire (Bridge full) & Laney IRT Studio/Vox 1x12. Ihad the mic (SM57) placed between the edge of duscap & the outer speaker edge cuz I thought I'd try something different. But it sounded like ass (too dark/muddy) so I hd to hi-pass the extra bass out. I'll just stick w/ 'edge of dustcap' next time :bigthumb:

Is there a reason you post all your clips in the wrong forum?

Wouldn't it be more appropriate for you to show off in the "Tips And Clips" forum?!

Yeah, these are turning more into clips threads than guitar questions. I will move them.

Does'nt make a difference really. After a while (20-30clips) it just boils down to the educational value....so technically not as much of an NGD thread as it was when it started out

As you can see GuitarDoc is already down here in Tips & clips ..back in this thread anyway :lmao:

I don't mind as long as he's here to learn :bigthumb:

It'll keep his mind off his other less savoury activities..

I think I'll do another bluesy clip but w/ the mic in the middle again for better tone.. :bigthumb:

The truth is I might have played more Jazz without my knowledge as well....if I find any i'll be sure to share for knowledge/educational purposes as always :bigthumb:

Tbh I'm sure that touchy-feely stuff I did earlier that Securb outed Clint for bullshitting about was Jazz too :bigthumb:

I get it though, years and years of sitting in mum's basement poring over super-thick books of theory so he can be a maestro/impress his pet hamster/chicks and then I come along and play flawless theoretical Jazz ^^ (contemporary & traditional) like all the greats like it's nothing w/o so much as glancing at skinny music theory pamphlet...it must be pretty galling :lmao:
