Re: switch, 5-way Oak Grigsby
Is this switch the same as the Fender "Super switch", terminal wise?
It's one of the two types of superswitches Fender uses.
Fender uses several different Oak switches in various Teles and Strats. Two of them are described by Fender and other companies as superswitches. If you compare these two, they differ in the number of terminals and switching possibilities.
This one I'm selling I bought from Acme, from their listing for an
Oak Grigsby single wafer superswitch.
Look at the information related to pickup selector switches in the wiring diagrams, parts lists and switching diagrams of various Strats and Teles
here on the Fender support site; and compare that to the info Acme has on their Oak Grigsby superswitches
here...
The U.S. Hot Rod Fat Telecaster, model number 0118000; and the U.S. Fat Telecaster, model numbers 0108000/8002; show a switch in the wiring diagrams that looks like the one Acme lists
here, described as an Oak Grigsby single wafer superswitch. Acme uses the same number (003-9003-000) for that switch, that Fender lists in the parts list for those two Teles. That is the switch I have. I was planning on using this switch to achieve the same general capability shown in those switching diagrams (albeit reversed, tapped bucker in bridge and single coil in neck); and I had planned to wire this switch using one of those Fender diagrams.
The Lone Star Stratocaster, model numbers 0107900/7902, and the Big Apple Stratocaster, model numbers 0107200/7202; show a switch in the wiring diagrams that looks like the one Acme lists
here described as an Oak Grigsby double wafer superswitch. This is not the switch I have!
