Winding tighter or looser would vary the lenght of wire used and still have the same number of turns. Same with pitch rate and pattern. I would assume winding it tight, but not breaking it, requires some practice.

A little bit, but the wire, especially 42 wire, while still easy to break is tougher than you would think. It's strong enough that with thousands of turns you will actually have problems with the bobbin warping before you break the wire.

Total speculation on my part. Since the PG has less bass and more mid's and high's than the other PAF type pups, even with an AII magnet & more resistance/winds, I'm thinking it is wound tighter than standard.

Your guess is as good as mine on that, but there are many ways to manipulate a wind to make it brighter.

In theory, a smaller coil will have a lower inductance and a lower resonance frequency.

You probably know more about it than I do, but I thought inductance rolls off the highs and capacitance rolls of the lows. Less inductance should result in a higher resonance frequency??? Less metal in the pup reduces inductance doesn't it???

In theory, a smaller coil will have a lower inductance and a lower resonance frequency.

But that's cancelled out by the fact that the smaller (narrower) coil sees more highs than lows.
