Symphony of Destruction sound needed!

Hi, I just registered here as I decided I need to be a part of this forum. Probably common for newcomers, I'll start with a question:

I'll soon have an Ibanez RG321 with stock pickups. I think the body is basswood, although many advertise mahagony.

Anyway. I want to put a SD in the bridge, but can't decide which. I've read a lot about the Invader, but maybe you guys can help me.

I need sound kind of like the Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth, but I also want to play a lot of solos (i.e. most of Metallica, Slash in GNR, etc.). My guitar effects are Digitech GNX2.

I don't know how to describe the sound I need---maybe "tight" would be a right word? Just think of Symphony of Destruction, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Symphony of Destruction sound needed!

Mustaine used a JB in his guitars. Duncan also makes his signature line now (active version of the JB). Some will say that the JB is not tight, and maybe the Custom or Distortion is a better choice. The good thing is, Ducan has a 21 day return policy, so if one of the above is not right for you, you can try another.

Re: Symphony of Destruction sound needed!

i'd say get the JB first since mustaine uses it. I personally have a JB in a Jackson KE and i think it does pretty well for megadeth tones.

however if u do need something tighter, DD or C5 might do as well. for bridge as for neck i believe mustaine seldom uses it. so u might wanna find something u like thru the duncan tone charts.

I think JBs would do well for that SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION tone.. Marty to used ( still uses IMO) JBs..
