Just out of curiousity, could anyone tell me what kinds of synths/organs/etc. are on these songs:
Van Halen - "Jump", "I'll Wait", "When It's Love"
Queen - "You're My Best Friend"
ELP - "Lucky Man"
Rush - "Tom Sawyer"
Led Zeppelin - "Misty Mountain Hop"
Thanks!

Re: Synth/Keyboard/Organ Sounds

Van Halen - "Jump", "I'll Wait", "When It's Love"
Yamaha DX 7

Queen - "You're My Best Friend"
Fender Rhoads Electric Piano

ELP - "Lucky Man"
dunno ... sorry

Rush - "Tom Sawyer"
Oberheim OBX, and Taurus bass pedals

Led Zeppelin - "Misty Mountain Hop"
not entirely sure: could be a Moog.

You can get most of these sounds in a modern sound module like the Kurzweil, Korg Trininty or the new, amazing Roland Virtual Synth.

Re: Synth/Keyboard/Organ Sounds

'Jump' was certainly an Oberheim of some sort- remember the video?

'Lucky Man' is a Moog Modular for the end solo.

I don't recall Zep ever using a Moog on anything though.

Re: Synth/Keyboard/Organ Sounds

i thought misty mountain hop was some kinda wurlitzer electric piano, heavily processed - no?

and i thought geddy lee played synths made by PPG (are they even around any more?)

i wonder if google knows?

cheers

Van Halen - "Jump", "I'll Wait", "When It's Love": Oberheim OB series synth

ELP - "Lucky Man": Big old modular Moog system (Keith still has that monster too!)

Led Zeppelin - "Misty Mountain Hop" Wurlitzer electric piano
