Hello All,

I'm hoping to get some info on what is assumed to be a vintage Dirty Fingers humbucker. The pickup has T-Tops, which according to pictures on the internet, appear to be reversed? Please have a look. Any information is greatly appreciated.

If you mean the T's, the orientation was random.

Yes, I was referring to the orientation of the T's. Interesting to know, the orientation was random. That's good news. I was hoping that the pickup was not someone's mod to flip the bobbins.

Would you folks think the pickup is circa early 80's?

Re: T-Top Dirty Fingers HELP PLEASE.

That is by all appearances, a real live Dirty Fingers. Most likely, it was extracted from a limited run of V/Explorers that Gibson did in the late 70/early 80's. They had gold poles on them, and gold hardware on the guitars. HAd a chance to buy a killer Explorer with a set of those. I should have….

The T's were just a moulding mark. So it wasn't like a feature. Plus most pickups at the time were covered (these being an exception) so they wouldn't have been seen for the most part.

You would be able to tell if the pickup has been reversed by where the wire leaves the baseplate. The wire should face the control cavity.

Re: T-Top Dirty Fingers HELP PLEASE.

I acquired the pickup in an old Peavey bought at a yard sale. It's now residing in the bridge of my 2002 Les Paul Special SL with a 490R in neck. I like the combo.
