Take my money! NOW!!!!!

Re: Take my money! NOW!!!!!

Sorry, but that stuff is SO early 80's.
Actually, mid- to late-80s.

This one would be early-80s:

Re: Take my money! NOW!!!!!

I like the headstock, except for that star at the top (haha such a minor thing I know), and I'm not a big fan of the "5150" at the bottom- still it looks like a sweet guitar!
The star on the headstock (as well as the one in the cutaway) was an identifier since Eddie had multiple guitars that looked the same in the darkly lit backstage area. 5150 had a single star because it was #1.

Yep. Heres a pic of Eddie and his wife holding guitars that look nearly identical. If you look closely, you will notice that the one Eddie is holding has one star and the one Valerie is holding has two...

Re: Take my money! NOW!!!!!

I don't understand the appeal of this. I've got my musical heroes and i own guitars similar to theirs, but the entire reason Eddie's guitar is cool is that he expressed himself with unique art. You're not expressing yourself by buying this. You're just being a poser and a wannabe.

And how many players bought Les Pauls because they wanted the same guitar as Jimmy Page or Slash, or Strats because they wanted the same guitar as Hendrix, or Blackmore or anyone else?

There's a market for these- people have been making these replicas for years , just so they can rock out in the privacy of their man cave- why not cash in and sell ones that anyone can walk into a Guitar Center and get?

Re: Take my money! NOW!!!!!

Those guitars look like Starburst reincarnated as guitars.

I want one because 30 years ago I was 17 and couldn't afford the $1400 that they cost back then..

Now Today I just refuse to pay the street price of $3600 for that guitar when there's so many better guitars I can get for the money

Re: Take my money! NOW!!!!!

Well, at least it isnt $25k like the the one replica.. (Yes, I know it was MUCH more detailed.)
As mentioned above, people have been making these for years, and other They have been fighting copies for years too.. so, makes sense they would try to cash in..

Re: Take my money! NOW!!!!!

Looks like it's $1,399 on Sweetwater and Reverb.

I paid $930 for my red Striped. I can't decide how much the 5150 appeals to me. Aren't they the same thing except for the graphics and the headstock?

Wait....what? $3600??? For the 5150 Striped Series?????

No, it's the candy-colored Starbust (the Jem). I was in junior high when it came out in 1987 and drooled over it. Now 30 years later my taste has changed. But a reissue is a smart move to thwart those opportunistic sellers asking 3500 dollars for a 30 year old relics on ebay.

No, 3600 for the Ibanez Jem reissues- the 5150 is about 1400- I just don't understand how it's 500 more than a standard striped- except that it's got a matching headstock

Re: Take my money! NOW!!!!!

Maybe they have to pay headstock royalties.

Ah, Ok. The current Frankie striped has 1399 MSRP but nobody pays that MAP is $999. Will probly be thr same for 5150.

PS if you Want another striped but dont care about the finish, they can seem to give the crop circles ones away. Ive seen it as low as 499 new!
