Talent from Belgium

Especialy since it is not the most known and certainly not the biggest country around I wanted to turn the spotlight on the lesser known Belgian guitar players (not that the more known such a Eric Melaerts are that famous outside of Belgium).
We have a couple of those around, and two who emediately popped into my mind where Wim Roelants (aka Mister G) and Youri De Groote. Both specialise in instrumental guitar playing and compose their own songs. Youri De Groote was the winner of Ron Thal's (aka Bumblefoot) international guitar contest a couple of years ago
Since last named's website is down at the moment for the major part, I will start with Wim Roelants:

A link to the homepage of Wim Roelants:

As soon as Youri De Groote's website is back up with vids and songs I will post you that link too.
Hope you like them!!
Any comments are welcome!! (and no, I am not saying:"Look at these guys, they are the best around or whatever!)

Re: Talent from Belgium

I loved my summer of '83 in Belgium. Charleroi, Brussels, Liege, Bastogne, and Brugge are all wonderful places. As a kid, said I'd never drink beer. Then I tasted the Chimay in Belgium...the rest is history. I'm longing to make it back there sometime.

Cool links. Those Belgian players are definitely some players. Thanks.

Wow man, without kidding that is serious Belgian experience you describe there, especialy being from the US, most US people don't know much (if they know it at all) about Belgium, lol, you even know about the beer!! ;-)
If you make it back around here give me a PM or something, I ll give you some tips and maybe we can meet up some day, after all it is not that big around here.
Thanks for your compliments on the Belgian player I have spotlighted here!!

Re: Talent from Belgium

Enjoyed the wim roelants burn video a lot, could really hear & feel the passion in the music.

Re: Talent from Belgium

Checked his web site and see he teaches also. Let us know if he ever has a DVD lesson for sale.

Yeah he does do a lot of demo shows and workshops at the moment, and private sessions too.
As far as I know there has not been any instructional DVD releases so far, but I will mail Wim and ask him if there may be any plans in the future towards making one, I think it would be a very good idea.
He would be able to reach a lot of people with that DVD, and he would not have to change his schedule too much.
I will defenately keep you informed as soon as I have more news about it!!
Thanks a lot for your interest!!
