Master of his Domain
Made in the U.S. of A. (MURIKAH)
Hand-wired by Bruce himself (boutique-y)
Two channels of Marshally goodness (I got a Fender, I need a Marshall)
FX loop (so my fancy boutique stomps don't get left out)

Someone convince me I shouldn't buy this amp, I'm soooooo close to saying **** it and getting it. It sounds so good.

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

Go for it, Egnater builds amazing stuff. I've also found that Sweetwater demos are pretty poor, I've heard some amazing gear ruined by them, so if it sounds that decent in a sweetwater demo.. extrapolate. Buy it, nerd.

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

If you get it, let us know what you think. I've looked at that amp quite a bit, but am hesitant without hearing it in person. Would love to read someone's first hand experience.

Quite being a sissy and man up! Be the master of your domain! No backsies! :nana:

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

You know you don't want that great stuff
You then wouldn't have any.excuse for the bad notes

I
And if you can't blame bad gear
Then who's to blame
You know who

Keep buying bargain solid state amps
With names no one has heard of

Let them take the blame
Or let folks rave about how you do so much with so little

Big fish in small ponds

Don't let greatness get in your way
You are not the sum of your gear

You are you
Rise to your own glory

Ok that's all I got
Grab that righteous amp if that's what you want

A/B/Y it with the Fender for the massive dual tone

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

I'm actually having a custom interface built so I can do three things - run my whole board into my Fender, run the board into an amp with my Strymon/H9 trio into an fx loop, and run the whole board in stereo. I bet that between this amp and my Bassman I could get some massive tones.

I'm just trying to find a friend who wouldn't mind having it shipped to their house, as I don't need my parents asking me all kinds of questions that I don't want to answer about why I bought a $1600 amp.

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

You can ship it to me
I'm here for ya man

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

I've been curious about these for a while now myself. Took some willpower not to pull out the Sweetwater card and get one at several points in the past few months. Looking forward to your review.

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

I'm actually (believe it or not haha) really excited for this amp. It's an amp of firsts for me - first boutique, first EL-34 powered, first marshall type, first high gain amp, etc. It will be a whole different world for me.

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

They upped it to 36 months interest free.

I know man. I'm still paying on my purple MM Steve Morse Y2D on that plan, and it left a few weeks ago (traded for a Deluxe American Strat and some cash). It's using their money, but it means that I'm still paying for something long after it's gone (cause I'm such a gear whore... LOL).

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

Congrats! I LOVE my Egnater HW seminar amp I built. I have tweaked it to my voice, which yours should be really close to spec wise (cough cough friedman-ish).

You got rid of the Y2D? Wow, that's too bad. I love mine.

Thanks! I remember how much you've raved about your seminar amp and that definitely influenced my decision to get the Egnater. Out of curiosity, how much of a fundamental difference would you say there is between your 800 and your seminar amp?

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

800 is probably louder... But in an obscene way. The eggie is thicker, chunkier and not as bright (well, you can make it that way I'm sure with the knobs). It has more gain and sounds like I want my 800 to sound with no added overdrive needed. Biggest thing is the lows are clear and present and not gone like on the 800. It's like micro brew beer vs bud... Bud's great, but micro brew adds and enhances traits of what you like in the original.

Mine was voiced way different from the sw45. From what I can tell, mine was kinda like a 3 gain stage Bogner Uberschall. Yours (and mine now) should be tighter and more friedman like.

You could probably email Bruce and find out a bunch about how the sw45 is voiced. He's super helpful and cool.

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

Stacking fuzz on a high gain marshall does require you to know how to use volume and/or tone knobs though... But as long as you can do that, it's SAWEET!

Re: Talk Me Down From This Egnater

Thanks! Now I'm even more impatient to get this amp. It seems like this amp will be the best of both worlds for me - most if not all of the characteristics that you describe should be available on the dirty channel, but then I'll also have that awesome sounding JTM/Plexi channel that will be closer to my Bassman. I'm really excited to see how my fuzz pedals work with the amp on either channel. Like I said, this is my first Marshall-type amp (though I did borrow a Dr Z 800 clone - SR65 - for a month or so once and it was ****ing incredible) so it will be a whole new ballpark for me to explore.

I'm glad the loop is well done, as that was an important feature for me. It's not a huge deal for the clean channel, but when I want to use the dirty channel it will be much better than throwing my Timeline, Mobius, and H9 out in front.
