Talk me into/out of this

King IzzO)))

Ultimate Kitten Puncher
LTD V-50, I know, lolz, but this one is a really good one, really reso, well dressed frets, best guitar in this particular shop, even against an EC-1000 & several higher end Vipers, Epi's.

Basswood body, maple neck, rw board, made in Indonesia, crappy access to anything above 16th fret, me no big whoop, it's used, but looks brand new. Everything about it seems real solid, I even like the ESP logoed tuners, seem better than what the others have on them. Stock pickups.

Here's the deal, they sell new for $250, this one is $200, but comes with a coffin case (silly, but still a case).

I doubt I can find another V this cheap that's this good.

I'm gonna piss off my wife with this one as I have 2 "projects" going already.

Flame on.

Re: Talk me into/out of this

*shrug* not a bad price, and if you say it's nicer than the more expensive ones, then maybe it's just a lucky piece.

I'd still haggle a bit since it's used.

Re: Talk me into/out of this

Any axe you dig for $150-$200 is kind of a no brainer instant purchase IMO. Hide from wife, problem solved.

Re: Talk me into/out of this

IMO anything that is less than killer isn't worth taking up space but that's just me. I wouldn't stock up on <300 dollar guitars just because....I'd rather save those 300 for a great >900 dollar guitar.

It's not like you can put together 4 199 dollar guitars and end up with 1 superior playing instrument equivalent to a good american model. You play them separately so it's better to own a single awesome guitar than many turdzzzz.

This is just my logical spin, by no means am I hating on the working man who rocks out cheap guitars like a champ.

Re: Talk me into/out of this

I bought an Affinity Tele because the neck had secks with my hand.

Do it.
You bought an Affinity because you didn't know any better. Those are the absolute most unplayable guitars and worst unlistenable instruments on the planet. Glad you liked it though..
I wish the Fender Forum would take me back, this is nauseating, and I'm losing my stomach for this crap....

No Jerry, I bought it because it played like butta' and for $180, brand new, it was an absolute steal.

Gutted it, replaced the wiring with a 4-way switch kit and SD AP2Pros, replaced the tuners with staggered-locking, replaced the bridge with a better low cost one and made it string thru.

I still need to put in a new nut.

And if it were still stock, you might have a point.
But even stock it wasn't *nearly* that bad.

Glad you liked it though..
Sorry you had such a bad experience.
You really missed out.

You might want to try some active culture yogurt to help with the nausea and a higher fiber diet would probably help.

Just curious, Jerry, but have you been kicked out of every forum you've ever joined?

Re: Talk me into/out of this

if it plays well, you like it, you get on with it and it is a good deal then do it. simples.

also don't knock cheap guitars, yeah ok so sometimes we throw money at them to make the quality better but still if the woodwork is perfect for your taste then there is no issue with it.

Yeah, Im trying to sell a couple of guitars right now for that exact reason. They are nice enough, but dont get played since theyre not as nice as my other ones so...just taking up space really.

Re: Talk me into/out of this

You made the right call Izzo, FYI keep your eyes open on the old Amott LTD Vs, some places have some great deals on those used...

Re: Talk me into/out of this

if it's a good one and you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks? i have a cheap ass LTD-M100 i've had since high school, and i can't let myself get rid of it, because it's one of the good ones.

Re: Talk me into/out of this

Yeah, I've got a good EC100, and it's def a good one, I'm just gonna go forward with my warmoth v plan.

I got excited when I found a dean body on eBay last night, but I looked at it on the computer and you can see its cracked by the neck holes. Anyone got a decent v body that a warmoth neck will fit for sale?

Re: Talk me into/out of this

I think it's a two path road. High end guitars are irreplaceable, BUT it's undeniable that low cost guitars are getting more perfect everyday, specially when it comes to looks and string action.

I say buy it, and then save for a custom built guitar!
