Talk me out of buying a Flying-V

Re: Talk me out of buying a Flying-V

If you think the SG's neck is weak and flexible, what makes you think the V's neck won't be the same, if not worse? Maybe you should be thinking Les Paul...

Althought the neck of a V isn't supported as well as Les Paul's neck, it is better supported than the neck on an SG:

how dare you insult an SG! you just slammed tony iomni, angus young, and pete townshend! just kidding. personally i wouldn't part with an SG but if it aint working for you then i say go for the V.

Uh, Albert King....
I win. :D

With all due respect to Mr. King.......yes he looked like a dorky fat black man with cokebottle glasses and the wrong guitar for the occasion. He should have made a better choice at the pawnshop! I'm Just kidding....he made it work...slightly. :bigthumb::D His playing made it OK. :D

You illustrated my point perfectly by bringing up that DORK!!!! :nervous::flush::biglaugh:

Re: Talk me out of buying a Flying-V

Yeah very few people can really pull off a V. I sure as shootin know I can't, and would never try. Give me a Gretsch, and I'll look great. But any of those goofy ass pointy guitars, and it's just silly waiting to happen. Actually, I love V's and more importantly Explorers and Firebirds. Explorers could be the coolest looking guitars there are, almost, actually (not quite as cool as LP's or hollowbodies, or Teles even, but close).

Re: Talk me out of buying a Flying-V

I think you will find the explorer much more comfortable overall- easier to sit and play, easier to handle on stage- when I had my V, I was bashing it into all kinds of stuff on stage.
