Talk to me about buulding....err...assembling.

I want to build, (piece together) a guitar. I've looked at warmoth stuff for years, but I'm curious about other companies that offer similar products and services, as well as your experience with them.

Now keep in mind, I'm not trying to hemorrhage money but I would like some ideas.

In my experience Warmoth offers short build times, amazing products, and quality overall. If you don't want to spend a fortune look at their showcase items, they are usually priced much cheaper. I have built three Warmoth strats and all of them were fantastic instruments. I'm currently working on a fourth with their velocity body and a strat neck I also got from them. The 10-16 radius and a standard thing neck is an amazing thing of beauty.

GuitarFetish has some inexpensive kits
Amazon sells Saga kits

Warmoth and Carvin have some more upscale kits

Why dont we do you a custom xmen guitar with a body i find locally. Then all you need is your awesome warmoth neck and you will be set. :lmao:

Hehehe

Re: Talk to me about buulding....err...assembling.

I assembled my own La Cabronista Telecaster from Warmoth, Fender and TV Jones parts. Mahogany body (by accident*), big compound radius neck, big sound. I prefer this to my USA Fender LCT.

+1 for Warmoth's discounted/clearance stock.

* The pre-finished body that I bought was listed as Alder. It arrived with a handwritten note, apologising for the fact that, beneath the paint, the tone wood was Mahogany. No problem. The guitar vastly exceeded my expectations.

If you can use a screwdriver and sandpaper, you're pretty much set.

As for finishing, if you get a neck/body that's already finished, then no worries. Otherwise, spend a few weeks reading up on finishing techniques or be prepared to shell out several hundred for a pro finishing job.

electronics and setup... well you probably already know that stuff.

Sweet! Another Velocity. They are rare. Please show some pics when it's done.

Re: Talk to me about buulding....err...assembling.

My next rebuild is going to be 800 some bucks and that is without the custom neck with ebony board and SS frets (500ish total I imagine?) I had some serious issues with Warmoth and the neck required extensive work on the install , not common and they changed the website afterwards but the fretwork is not the best at all on custom necks. Thing about buying a cheaper guitar and upgrading it is that you can do it as you can afford the parts . You know how it turns out in the end , you have played my guitars. You probably don't plan on taking 5 years to finish it . BTW you should get Deadpool on the custom Kramersteen paintjob dud. I almost bought one of those cheap 1 pup Peaveys with him on it ( god awful $99 )

Holy mother of seymour, Is that what you paid to do the ctn bra? i mean ctn star?
After having problems with the paint and not wanting to risk it screwing up a 2nd time, yeah i shelled out i think 300 for a stabilized nitro finish with the metal flake. If it was a carved top it likely would've been more
That price also included stripping off my first attempt.

I think it was well worth it.
