talkd to Marc/designer of Mag-Lok-SuperVee, about concerns in "0" positions, etc.
Hi,
Talked to Marc @ SuperVee/BladeRunner and he is a very nice, hardworking man who cares a lot about all your concerns, meaning all guitarists. He says that he plans to address the problems of his MagLok in the future with a new design that would replace the current MagLok and, still address the main idea, keeping the strings from moving during stretches, and at the same time finding a way so that the return or "0" position is smooth where it sits, allowing for less or none of the stickiness or "in gear" feeling (add your own description) in that resting position.
He also went on to say that he has high hopes his new design will be strong enough so you could actually de-tune to a low D without re-tuning. That would really be something! He aims to do it.
It will still be a Tremsetter device but names have not yet been chosen. He uses MagLok 2 as a generic till the design is ready. Again, it will be a REPLACEMENT of current system. *IMPORTANT*, many on TGP and here have expressed, and rightfully so, concerns that his rare earth mags might damage, change, de-gauss magnets in the pickups near the MagLok, he says he has been in the designing end of electronics and ancillary (my word) products his whole life and promises that with his 90 degree angle difference from pickup mags , along with how far away from the magnets in pickups themselves, there is no way any harm could come to any passive pickup system.
All this is maybe a year or so away. He is pounding away on it. Some have asked price. Currently MagLoks are around 60 bucks on hid Website and he did not swear me to secrecy, but mentioned he is or will be in talks with Sweetwater as a dealer. Again, in the works. His website has all his stuff and more, including 2 fulcrum designs, etc. package prices "The Trifecta" they are called, for Trem unit + MagLok + super anti-friction cream (that I must apologize as I could not get it all written down fast enough) for a great price and fee shipping. look under Buy Now for these prices. His anti friction cream sounded "new" and improved. My words. His desciption too fast to jot down.
He is interested in your concerns and may take a look at what I posted so if I got anything wrong, Marc, I do apologize, so feel free to jump in and straighten out any thing incorrect, but I believe I got it all.
Thank you all for reading. I am going to send TGP folks to this site as I don't feel like typing it all again and don't know how to cut and paste. So there you have it.
